Today UConn swept the Big East weekly honors of the 2nd time consecutive week and 3rd time this season (it is a rare becoming a regular feat for UConn players). UConn All-American Maya Moore was named the Big East Player of the Week for the 3rd straight week and sixth time this season after posting a pair of double-doubles in a 2-0 week for the Huskies while averaging 27ppg, 10.5rpg and 3apg. Moore scored 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Huskies’ 83-57 victory over No. 10/11 North Carolina. She was 5-of-6 from the free throw line against the Tar Heels. She followed that up with a 28-point, 11-rebound performance in Connecticut’s 66-46 win over Pittsburgh. She dished-out four assists and was 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Moore scored 20 points in the first half on Jan. 22, marking the fifth time this season she has scored at least 20 points in the first half. She is the NCAA’s active scoring leader with 2,628 career points.UConn teammate Fr. Bria Hartley was named the Big East Freshman of the Week for the 2nd straight week and fifth time this season after she averaged 12ppg, 4rpg and 6apg. Hartley started the week with an 11-point, five-rebound, eight-assist effort in UConn’s 83-57 win at No. 10/11 North Carolina on Jan. 17. Her eight assists marked a career high and she also posted four steals in 33 minutes of action in Chapel Hill. She followed that up with a 13-point, four-assist effort in UConn’s 66-46 win over Pittsburgh on Jan. 22. For the week, Hartley dished-out 12 assists and turned the ball over only four times.
