Today Connecticut's incoming high school star and the 2007-08 State Farm/WBCA HS National Player of the Year award winner Elena DelleDonne took home MVP honors at the WBCA HS All America game be leading her Red Team to a 114-79 victory with 17 pts. Fellow UConn signee Tiffany Hayes had a game-high 18 pts.
The 2007-08 State Farm All America Team was announced today as well as the 2007-08 State Farm Wade Trophy. Stanford's Candice Wiggins walked away with the Wade Trophy which is the highest honor in women's college basketball. Connecticut's Maya Moore and Renee Montgomery became the lastest Huskies named to the prestigous All America squad (formerly the Kodak All America Team).

Today UConn's Maya Moore was named the 2007-08 USBWA National Freshman of the Year (last years honors went to UConn's Tina Charles) and UConn head coach Geno Auriemma was named the 2007-08 USBWA National Coach of the Year (for the 3rd time). Moore was also named to the 10-member 2007-08 USBWA Women's All America Team.

And the awards just keep rolling in for the nation's top freshman and UConn's Superstar. Today Maya Moore was named to the 2007-08 Wooden Award Women's All America Team. She is joined by all the members of the AP All America 1st Team which includes Fowles, Paris, last years Wooden Award winner Parker, and Wiggins.

More History from UConn's Superstar Fr. Maya Moore. Today Moore was named to the 2007-08 Associated Press All America 1st Team becoming the first UConn freshman and only the second freshman ever (the other being Oklahoma's Courtney Paris) to receive this honor. Moore's teammates Jr. PG Renee Montgomery and So. C Tina Charles were both named to the 3rd Team. In a suprise twist, Sr. PF Charde Houston was named AP All America Honorable Mention.
