Well that didn't take very long...

After six long exhausting days of searching the question has finally been answered. Former 1st team All-American and UConn great Shea Ralph has officially been named assistant coach of the UConn Huskies. She replaces Tonya Cardoza who resigned last week when she was named the head coach of the Temple Owls. It is also being reported that the position was posted and overnight about 200 resumes had been faxed to the UConn Athletic Department. I guess Geno and co. had a busy 4th of July weekend!!!!

Welcome Back Shea, we missed you!!!!

No official comfirmation yet, but it is being rumored on UConnFan.com Boneyard message board (via her own facebook homepage) that former UConn Husky Brittany Hunter will be named 3rd assistant coach under Tonya Cardoza at Temple University.

It was bound to happen eventually, one of Geno's staff would leave for a head coaching position. The question was not If but When? and of course, Who? Well, it turns out it is Tonya Cardoza. She has been an assistant coach with the Huskies for 14 seasons and a part of all 5 NCAA Championships. Today she was officially named head coach of the women's basketball team at Temple University. At UConn, she specialized in recruiting and grooming the guards. She inherets a team from her former Virginia Cavaliers teammate Dawn Staley, who left who the head coaching position at South Carolina (the Huskies will visit the Gamecocks as part of their upcoming non-conference schedule). And I don't think it will be long until we see the Owls on the Huskies schedule.

Good Luck Tonya, we will miss you!!!

And now the question becomes who does Geno pick to take Tonya's place as UConn Assistant Coach???
