Today UConn swept the Big East weekly honors of the 2nd time this season (which is a rare feat for UConn players). UConn All-American Maya Moore was named the Big East Player of the Week for the fifth time this season after averaging 23.5ppg, 6rpg, 5.5apg, 3.5spg, and 1bpg while leading UConn to a 2-0 Big East record. Moore started the week off with a 21pt., 6reb, 8ast effort in the Huskies’ 84-52 defeat of No. RV/22 St. John’s on Jan. 12. She followed that with a 26pt., 6reb., 4stl. performance in a 78-55 victory over Louisville on Jan. 15. UConn teammate Fr. Bria Hartley was named the Big East Freshman of the Week for the fouth time this season after she averaged 16.0ppg and 6.5rpg, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from beyond the 3-point arc last week. She scored 8pts. in only 19mins. of action in UConn’s 84-52 victory at No. RV/22 St. John’s on Jan. 12, grabbing five rebounds. She followed that up with a career-high 24pt., career-high 8reb., 3ast. effort in 40mins. of action in the Huskies’ 78-55 victory over Louisville on Saturday. That career-high total came on 10-of-16 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from long-range.

Hartley continues to impress as a freshman and show one of UConn's strengths: recruiting.

I think they will continue to dominate Big East honors even though its one of the stronger competitive conferences in women's basketball.
