Summary: With Notre Dame leading 72-67 with 4:24 left, UConn went out a "season defining" 12-4 run to close out the narrow 79-76 victory over the Irish. The Huskies wouldn't take the lead until UConn All-American Maya Moore shook off a bump from Devereaux Peters and drilled a pull-up jumper with 50 seconds left to put the Huskies up 75-74. UConn Fr. Stefanie Dolson blocked a Notre Dame lay-up attempt with 34secs. left, but the gritty Irish put up another shot and it went in, giving Notre Dame a 76-75 lead with 30secs. left. UConn Head Coach Geno Auiremma called a time-out with 19secs. on the clock and drew up a play that eventually led to So. Kelly Faris reserve layup of a beautiful pass from Fr. Bria Hartley. After Notre Dame missed a short jumper, Dolson got the rebound and was fouled by Peters. The freshman, who's made all but two free throws this year, made both. Faris scored a career-high 20pts., including the game-winning layup with 14secs. left while UConn All-American Maya Moore added 31pts., 8rebs., and 2blks.
