Fellow All-American candidate Sr. G Tiffany Hayes led the way for UConn with 23pts. to go along with 5r/2a/3s and Fr. G Brianna Banks chipped in 12pts. off the bench on a perfect 5 for 5 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the line. The stingy UConn defense only allowed the Stags one FT attempt the entire game (a miss).

On Thursday, arguably the Best Team in the History of Women's College Basketball will be inshrined in UConn History forever when they are inducted into the "Huskies of Honor" program. The 2001-02 undefeated National Champions will be recognized during halftime of UConn's game against Fairfield. The members of the 2001-02 team who will be in attendance for the "Huskies of Honor" induction ceremony on December 29 include: head coach Geno Auriemma, associate head coach Chris Dailey, graduate assistant coach Svetlana Abrosimova, athletic trainer Rosemary Ragle, team physician Tom Trojian, Sue Bird, Ashley Battle, Maria Conlon, Stacey Marron and Ashley Valley. Several members are unavailable due to the fact that they are playing professionally overseas.

Summary: To say it took the entire first half to shake the gunk off themselves after their first loss of the season would be a major understatement. The entire Huskies team save Bria Hartley struggled mightily in the first half of the game tonight against Charleston, but most woke up at halftime and they pulled away for the easy win over the Cougars, 72-24. UConn All-American candidate So. G Bria Hartley led the with 15pts. and 9rebs. and Jr G. Kelly Faris and Fr. W Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis both gave a nice all-around effort for the Huskies.

UConn freshman W Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was named the Big East Freshman of the Week for the 4th straight week and 4th time in her career after helping UConn to a 2-0 week including a win over 8/7 Texas A&M. where she had 14 points, two blocks, two steals and shot 40 percent from the floor in the win against the Aggies. In the victory against the Pirates, she recorded 15 points, grabbed five rebounds and made a trio of 3-pointers. She averaged 14.5ppg as she became the first player in Big East history to open her career with four straight Freshman/Rookie of the Week honors. Angie Clark of St. John's owned the mark with three straight honors in the 2003-04 season.

The UConn men's and women's basketball programs are asking fans to bring new, unwrapped toys with them to the women's basketball game against Texas A&M on Tuesday 12/6 at the XL Center and to the men's basketball game against Harvard on Thursday 12/8 at Gampel Pavilion. The 2011 UConn Toy Drive, which is being hosted by the University of Connecticut Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), will benefit the Cornerstone Foundation in Rockville, CT. Donations will be collected at the main entrance of the XL Center prior to the Texas A&M game - and all entrances of Gampel Pavilion for the Harvard contest.
UConn freshman W Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was named the Big East Freshman of the Week for the 3rd straight week and 3rd time in her career after helping UConn to a 1-0 week with a win over Towson. She scored 21pts. and added three assists and three steals while shooting 72.7 percent from the floor (8-of-11) and connecting on 5-of-8 3-pters.
UConn All-American candidate and sophomore G Bria Hartley was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll after leading UConn in scoring 24pts. in the win over Towson while shooting 75 percent from the floor and adding five assists and four steals in a win against Towson. Hartley also connected on 4-of-5 from 3-point range.

Today the UConn trio of Sr. G Tiffany Hayes, So. C Stefanie Dolson, and So. G Bria Hartley were named to the 52-member 2011-12 Women's Naismith Award early season list. Last season UConn Great Maya Moore won the Wade Trophy award for a record 3rd time. UConn leads the way along with Notre Dame and Tennessee by having 3 players named to the list and the Big East leads all conferences with a total of 12 players.
