Today the UConn women's basketball team, in partnership with Row27, has launched UConnWBB.com, an brand new interactive microsite that tells the story of UConn women's basketball. The site is heavily photo and video driven and is another avenue by which fans can follow the storied program. Fans should still visit UConnHuskies.com to get the latest information on the team and games.

UConn men's and women's basketball programs will tip-off the 2011-12 season with First Night sponsored by People's United Bank on Friday, October 14th at Gampel Pavilion. Admission is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m. featuring an autograph session with both teams, followed by performances from the band, cheer and dance squads, introductions of the players and coaches, a dunk and three-point contest and ultimate prize giveaways. The show will end at approximately at 8 p.m. with a performance by the famous Simon Sez. There will also be surprise guest appearances by former UConn basketball greats.

Congratulations Maya Moore!!!
Today the former UConn Great and current Minnesota Lynx starting Wing was named the 2011 WNBA Rookie of the Year. She recieved 38 out of the 40 possible votes. She becomes the third former Husky to win (Diana Taurasi, 2004 and Tina Charles, 2010). She was also unianimously voted to the 2011 WNBA All-Rookie Team by the league's head coaches.
