Summary: The game wasn't pretty, not by a long stretch, but a win is a win. Led by UConn All-American candidate Sr. G Kelly Faris' offense and superb defense, UConn held Maryland at bay long enough to pull off the victory, 63-48. Faris held Maryland's 1st Team All-American Jr. F Alyssa Thomas to just 6pts. on 2 of 12 shooting and forced her into 8 TO's all while having a near quadruple-double herself with 8pts., 7rebs, 7asts., and a career-high 8stls. Fellow UConn All-American candidates Jr. C Stefanie Dolson and Fr. F Breanna Stewart chipped in 14p/8r and 13p/6r, respectively. UConn's offense struggled for the first time this season yet its defense was stellar all game holding Maryland to 35% shooting and forcing them into 26 TO's. UConn So. G Brianna Banks continues to impress off the bench scoring 11pts. and hitting some tough 3's down the stretch to end any hope of a Maryland comeback while fellow So. W Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis left the game late in the 1st half with a quad contusion and is listed as questionable for Thursday's game at home against 10/10 Penn State.
